Located on the southern tip of Bali Island, Uluwatu is one of many tourism areas in Indonesia having various tourist attractions. To mention some, you can find the Uluwatu Temple, Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) — a private cultural park situated on the Bukit Peninsula at the southern tip of Bali — and other places offering beauty in this place. Moreover, you can also find other attraction such as Dreamland Beach or widely known as New Kuta.
This beach is well known as one of the best surfing destinations in Indonesia. No wonder, it becomes a must-visit place both for local and international surfers. And for those who do not surf, this place presents you with a bunch of beauty, definitely not-to-miss thing. In short, this place is still worth visiting!
On its beach sprawls its beautiful white sand. Many say it is even better than the Kuta beach. What’s more, you can also find a golf course in this area. Entering to its third year of operation, this 18 hole golf course is designed by Dale & Ramsey Golfplan Fream. Being a link-style course, New Kuta is the first championship-standard link in Indonesia.
On its five sets of tee, New Kuta presents a number of variations ensuring the pleasure round for all golfers. Undoubtedly, low handicappers and beginners will find this is a very challenging link. The landscape is designed with fairway and undulating native green link-style and also tough rough.
On this link, challenges and wind are surely inseparable, but no worries, a very spectacular sea and surrounding scenery will spoil you. Each hole provides a challenge for sure, but the real surprise comes after trying out the so-called Amen corner of New Kuta Golf: hole 14, 15, and 16. Similar to Amen corner of Augusta, those three holes also offer the highest difficulty level compared to other holes.
Take hole 14, for example. At this long-hole, par four, you can put the ball on the left fairway, closer to the green. This will ease you to approach the green from the tee. Sounds good? Yes, but if you are either low handicappers or long hitters. Take your pick!
Pay extra attention with the fairway bunker on the left side. If you yourself are not sure, just put the ball on the right fairway. You may feel confident that your second shot will be longer than insisting on putting the ball to the left side of the fairway in order to reach the green. Still, before hitting the ball to green, always be aware of the bunker on the left and right side of green.
Hole 15, 140 meters from black tee, has a left dogleg layout. You can directly attack the green pin. And as mentioned earlier, always be aware of the bunker situated in front of green, and the right of the green, and also wind potentially interfering with your plan and prediction from the tee. Finally, the last hole of amen corner (16) requires you to drive the ball to the right side of the fairway so that you can easily see the green.
The green is narrow, guarded by pot bunkers on the right and a large bunker on the left, with a narrow fairway in front of the green. You can lay up your second shot.
Along with beauty and challenges, New Kuta Golf is also recognized for its environmental conservation. In October 2008, the New Kuta Golf was awarded certificate of “IGOLF Laureate Course” from the International Golf and Life Foundation (IGOLF) for environmental conservation.
In addition, New Kuta is also awarded as the Best New International Course (Links Magazine 2008) and Planet Golf World Rankings, No. 10 in Indonesia (Golf Digest 2009) 18 holes, Private Garden Course. The recognition is made more complete after New Kuta Golf successfully held Indonesian Open in 2009. Participants and visitors were very pleased while attending the event.
